描述

芥酸的直接用途不多，主要用作精細化學品的中間體，用來制取各種表面活性劑、潤滑劑、增塑劑、乳化劑、軟化劑、防水劑、去污劑等。其衍生物芥酸酰胺（[112-84-5]）是塑料的潤滑劑；芥酸氫化制成二十二烷酸，進一步加工制成山酸，用于艦艇上防止鹽水腐蝕和防止藻類等附著在船體上。芥酸裂解可制取壬酸和十三碳二元酸，后者可制造人造麝香、耐低溫耐光的優良增塑劑、尼龍-13和尼龍-1313。這類尼龍具備一般尼龍所不具備的特點，比其他尼龍更抗水，熔點低，能在低溫下加工。
