2-Ethyl-2-methyl-1,3-dioxolane is used as a reagent in the synthesis of Strychnine Hydrochloride (S687710); a compound that acts as an antagonist for cholinesterases and beta amyloid aggregation. Also used as a reagent in the study of the prodrugs of peptide aldehyde as proteasome inhibitors.
